Where to eat in the South Peninsula of Cape Town: our honest local guide

When guests arrive at one of our properties, one of the first things they ask is where to eat. We've answered this question a few hundred times by now, and these are five places on the South Peninsula that come up on our list every single time: not because they're the most Instagrammed spots in Cape Town, but because we've been to all of them, we love all of them, and we've never had a guest come back disappointed.
Here's our honest, no-fluff guide to where we actually send our guests.

Beira Mar Portuguese Restaurant - the best seafood platter in Cape Town (BYOWine)
If you're a seafood person, stop what you're doing and book a table. Beira Mar is one of those places that doesn't need much of a write-up because the food does all the talking. The seafood platter for two is something else: generous, fresh, and exactly what you want to be eating when you're this close to the ocean.
What makes it even better? It's bring-your-own-wine. Pick up a bottle from Top's next door and you are set up for a memorable meal.

Blended Eatery - the best breakfast on the peninsula (pet friendly)
If they want to start the day properly, Blended is where we send our guests. The food is genuinely delicious and nourishing: the kind of breakfast or lunch that keeps you going all the way through a full day of exploring the Cape Peninsula without that mid-afternoon slump.
It's also pet friendly, which matters more than you'd think when you're travelling with a dog. And the owners & the team are wonderful: warm, genuine people who clearly care about what they're doing. That comes through in everything on the menu.

Cape Point Vineyards - wine, views and three ways to dine in Noordhoek
This one is a bit of a destination in itself. Cape Point Vineyards sits in the Noordhoek valley with views that make it very hard to leave, and they've put real thought into giving guests options depending on what kind of experience they're after.
You can do the picnic on the lawns, sit in the restaurant for a proper meal, or keep it casual at the courtyard eatery. All three are worth it. The wine is excellent and the setting does the rest. Our one non-negotiable piece of advice: book ahead. It gets busy, and you don't want to miss out.

Fishermans Kommetjie - laid-back eats and live music
Kommetjie has a certain kind of energy that's hard to describe to someone who hasn't been: unhurried, genuinely local, a little bit salty in the best way. Fishermans captures all of that. It's the kind of place where you walk in not knowing anyone and leave feeling like a regular.
The vibe is laid-back and community-driven, and on weekends there's live music that draws locals and visitors alike. It's not fancy, and that's entirely the point. Go for the atmosphere, stay longer than you planned.

Furny's Fine Wines - the South Peninsula's finest wine selection
We've saved this one for last because it's the kind of place you discover and immediately wonder how you lived without it. Furny's has the best selection of fine wines on the South Peninsula, full stop. But it's not just a wine shop - the setting under a milkwood tree gives it a romantic charm that's hard to replicate, and the Friday wine tastings & weekend live music have become a ritual for a lot of locals.
Weekend afternoons there are a particular pleasure: the kind of slow, easy way to spend a few hours that feels like a proper holiday even if you live here. Their small but incredible menu includes a salad with artichokes: DELICIOUS!
The South Peninsula has no shortage of great places to eat and drink in Cape Town, and these five are the ones we keep coming back to ourselves. If you've stayed with us and have a favourite to add, we'd love to hear it in the comments.
